Since 1999, Prof. Dr. med. Hans U. Baer has been leading the practice for abdominal medicine and visceral surgery at the Hirslanden Clinic Zurich. He provides consultations, education and second opinions in the areas of open and laparoscopic surgery. Baermed Bauchmedizin AG has a permit from the Health Department of the Canton of Zurich to operate an outpatient medical institution.

Prof. Dr. med. Hans U. Baer has many years of expertise in complex and oncological abdominal surgery and tumor surgery. His specialties include visceral surgery and visceral surgical tissue engineering.

Visceral surgical tissue engineering

Prof. Hans U. Baer, MD, conducts basic and clinical research for cell matrix implants and mini-organs in collaboration with Tarumanagara Human Cell Technology Laboratory (THCT Lab), a research laboratory of Tarumanagara University (UNTAR), Jakarta, Indonesia as well as R.S. Gading Pluit Private Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia and Liver Clinic, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The cell-matrix implant, that he developed in collaboration with the Tarumanagara Human Cell Technology Laboratory (THCT Laboratory) at Tarumanagara University (UNTAR) in Jakarta, Indonesia is a novel treatment for severe chronic liver cirrhosis.

Having completed basic research, the project is currently in Phase II clinical research study.

HEPADUA® Mini-Liver Implant

Liver cell matrix implant is a newly developed treatment method for severe chronic liver cirrhosis. Currently, the Hepadua® Mini-Liver Method is undergoing a clinical trial.

Hirslanden Clinic and Hirslanden Clinici Im Park are on the hospital list of the Canton of Zurich. The Baermed practice can therefore treat all outpatients and inpatients at the Hirslanden Clinic Zurich as well as at the Hirslanden Clinic Im Park.

Consultation and treatment

Prof. Dr. med. Hans U. Baer will be happy to discuss your health concerns with you in his consultation hours. He works according to long-standing medical treatment principles.

In the discussion between the doctor and the patient, the first step is to ask about the patient’s entire medical history (anamnesis), followed by a physical examination (status). During the consultation, the preliminary examinations (please take reports with you) are analyzed and a decision is made with the patient as to what extent further examinations are necessary. If a diagnosis already exists, the patient is informed about the surgical options.

If the patient decides to undergo surgical treatment, Prof. Dr. med. Hans U. Baer suggests a renowned surgeon from the team of practice partners who will perform the operation.

Since his retirement, Prof. Dr. med. Hans U. Baer no longer operates himself. He advises patients preoperatively about the diseases, treatment options and surgical options also in the sense of a second opinion.

Hirslanden Clinic Zurich and Clinic Im Park Zurich

Prof. Hans U. Baer is an accredited attending physician at the Hirslanden Clinic and the Hirslanden Clinic im Park with its own in-house center. The economically independent Center for Abdominal Medicine and Visceral Surgery has been working closely with the Hirslanden Clinic and the Hirslanden Clinic im Park for years.

The accreditation of Prof. Hans U. Baer as an attending physician means that the Hirslanden Clinic formally recognizes Prof. Hans U. Baer’s professional competencies and grants him permission to practice as a visceral surgeon with his own center within the Hirslanden Clinic and as a specialist in visceral surgery (abdominal surgery) in the Baermed Competence Center. exercise.
